Begin Writing Now

By Marjorie J McDonald

If you are continuing to talk about writing a book, it is time for you to stop talking and begin to do. I am going to give you an outline of how I work with my clients.

I have my customer commit to a date 4 weeks from today (yes, I actually have them pull out their calendar and decide on the date right then and there) and start to get their outline together for the content. Before anything else is done and before they leave the appointment this part is in effect. You, like my clients, already know precisely what you desire to jot down some thoughts about so the content outline step is simple.

What are my clients ' reactions? Yes, you guessed ... "YIKES! I want to get in gear and get things going! I am publishing my book in 4 weeks!"

Surprisingly, everything always gets done. The content is written, finished, the promotional letter or offer page is accomplished if they are marketing their book online and they have a list of other selling sources lined up to help to help promote the electronic book. Interestingly, everything is always easily finished before the launch date. I call this being PULLED forward by your marketing, instead of being a victim of perfection paralysis or saying I am going to get around to it later and continuing to stall.

It is always simpler to start with a finish date and work back to the start of a project. It allows you to plan for adequate time to get everything finished. If you move forward from the start towards the end, something will customarily happen to keep you from staying on track. That very well could be the explanation why you have not been ready to complete your book before now.

I have found utilising the system of moving from the end back toward the starting to be particularly useful in writing but I've used it for lots of other event co-ordination activities. It is a very successful and productive method.

Set your date, get started with your creative writing and push towards forward your finish line.
